Special Collections 

Onondaga Community College Special Collections contain New York State History books, books authored by Onondaga Community College faculty, administrators and staff, and items of local interest generously donated by Post Standard columnist Dick Case. In addition, the Special Collections houses a collection of photographs on the history of the black community in Syracuse, and an extensive collection of musical scores on microfilm, generously donated by Frederick Marvin.

Archives 

Onondaga Community College Archives collects, preserves and provides access to historical records concerning the history, development and social interactions of the college, from the college’s beginning in downtown Syracuse to its present campus on Onondaga Hill. The archives include documents, publications, correspondence, program and course materials, photographs, programs, film and ephemera from administrative departments, academic programs, student organizations, faculty and staff. 

Highlighted Collections

College History   

This is a partial list of what is contained in the archives. Links are provided when available. Please contact the College archivists for more information. 

  • Commencement Programs – The collection includes commencement ceremony programs from 1964 to present. The programs feature names of graduates, speakers, presidents along with other information. 
  • Course Catalogs – the catalogs are from 1964 to the present. 
  • College Yearbooks – The college yearbooks from 1964-1975. Each offers a look at the academic year including photographs of the life on campus and of individual students. 
  • Faculty and Staff Publications – The archives hold the collections of Professors Donald B. Miller and James MacKillop 
  • Photographs – Photographic prints, slides and negatives documents campus life from 1962 – present. 
  • Student Newspapers – Complete runs of the various students’ newspapers, starting with the first issue in 1964. 
  • OCC Foundation Materials – documents and correspondence from the Foundation. 
  • Presidents Files – the files of each college President. 
  • Academic Programs material – Curricular material, along with documents and correspondence from academic programs. 
  • Board of Trustees Material – Board minutes and other historical documents. 
  • Films and Audio Recordings – Films and audio recordings from campus speakers, events and campus life. 
  • Theater Programs – The college includes programs from the many theater productions at Onondaga Community College 
  • Ephemera – Items from the college history, such as hats, mugs, banners, signs and posters, awards, and much more.
