Who we are

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is the official international honor society of two-year colleges. 

The mission of Phi Theta Kappa is twofold: to recognize and encourage the academic achievements of two-year college students, and to provide opportunities for individual growth through participation in scholarship, leadership, fellowship, and service.

Onondaga Community College's chapter is Alpha Sigma Zeta. The award-winning chapter is student-run with an active leadership team.

Membership Invitations are mailed to eligible students at the local address each fall and spring inviting them to join. Eligible students are those who:

  • Are currently matriculated
  • Have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours at OCC
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5

*OCC does not induct students during the summer or winter semesters. Graduates are not eligible for retroactive induction. Both part-time and full-time matriculated students are eligible for membership.

My original plan was to come here, keep my head down, earn my degree and get out. But, the more I engaged, the more things seemed to open up for me. I encourage everyone to take advantage of everything OCC has to offer and get involved!
